Luckily for Jason Lo we are able to receive the design in a 3D program (Solidworks) to be able to manipulate and customise the design. Jason knew a student that work on the design in the BEIL Summer course and he shared the file with us. Solidworks is foreign to me so the file was converted to Sketchup to be more user friendly for myself and team. The file that was given is shown below:
We have already started to dissect the model to find greater alternatives in the connection methods to fully understand how the individual slats will link together (as seen above).
This is just a quick concept that I thought of to find another method of connecting the pieces together. The rods are steel pipes that are intersecting through the chair.
